Wish List Wednesday

Okay so I know I've mentioned that I started going to the gym again. If I didn't mention it here I know I've talked about it on Twitter. Anywho, I'm sticking to it and can feel a difference.

Now just because I'm going somewhere to work my butt off and sweat profusely doesn't mean I don't want to look cute. So I thought I would check out some cute things for the gym today...

running shoes

I'm probably in need of some new shoes anyway, so I picked out these three from Piperlime. I like cute running shoes, and I'd be fine with any of those brands.

workout bottoms

Good pants are important too. I can't take it if they're too baggy or if I'm constantly pulling them out of my butt (sorry for the visual, mom). These all look comfy. Although I'd likely have to hem the longer ones (stupid short legs). They came from Athleta, Gap, and Old Navy.

workout tops

And last but not least, I found some WAY cute tops. All of these came from Old Navy, Athleta, and Gap as well. How could I not want to go to the gym if I got to wear this cute stuff??
So there you are, cute gym things. I actually do have one cute top and one cute pair of capris. And I swear it helps! Because there's no need to look that frumpy at the gym.

Paaaaarty!

Okay, my sister's bachelorette was Saturday night. I stayed out until 3:40, which I haven't done since... I honestly don't know. Met some cool people, randomly ran into a former coworker, and managed to score free drinks. But OH I was exhausted Sunday.

Much went on that I will not share because I try to keep this blog relatively clean. The night consisted of three bars and some good stories that I just can't share here. I can share a couple videos with you though.

We started the night at a little hole in the wall that had some karaoke going. So here are a couple videos. The first is my brother-in-law (he was one of our chauffer/bodyguard/bouncers for the night). I'm really only posting it because I'm a jerk. I'll admit it. But really he isn't bad. And FYI, sorry, that's my obnoxious laughter at the beginning and screaming when he starts dancing. I'm loud. The second video is us girls singing Love Shack... badly. I'm horribly ashamed at how bad we were. And yet I'm posting it here for your amusement. Don't say I don't love my readers.

Hey

Just so everyone know, I did get my giveaway package, I just haven't written the post yet. It will come soon though.

Just sit tight.

Ugh Monday

It's officially the week of sissy's wedding. And it's Monday. Just assume I'm stressing.

My mom missed this last week and I loved it so I thought it deserved a post. Dancing With the Stars did a tribute to Patrick Swayze last week and it was pretty much amazing. I heart Tony. And mom, this may make you love him more, just FYI. He's one classy gentleman.

If it disappears or doesn't play for any reason, someone please comment or email me so I can attempt to fix it.

Pondering

A friend mentioned something via Twitter earlier this week and it actually stuck with me a little bit. You know that AT&T commercial with the lost dog? If you don't, watch then continue reading.

This person mentioned, "Would that actually happen?"

Of course the immediate answer is no. Sure it's a nice idea that gives everyone the warm fuzzies, but do most people take the time to think about others in this day and age? Not often. Then I thought about it a bit.

Maybe small towns that people don't even realize still exist. You know, where you know your neighbors and there's one high school for the whole town. I can see it happening in those kind of places.

Where I am? Maybe. I can see taking a pic and sending it if I saw an adorable kid out hanging the signs. Who doesn't want to help out a sad kid?* And I think some people around here could actually be willing to be helpful.

I dunno, just an interesting thought for you today. What do you guys think? Do any of you live in that pleasant little town where the text message would spread like wildfire until the little girl got her dog back?

Serious Cuteness

So remember a couple weeks ago when I was being crafty for a baby shower gift? Well, I finally got off my bum and uploaded pictures. So here ya go...

The cutest embellished onesies ever. I love this puppy material. And the tie applique? It pretty much makes me squeal.

Keeping with the theme of puppy... I love how these paw prints turned out.

And I was pleasantly surprised by how cute my dog house turned out.

This is possibly my other favorite. Right behind the tie. I just love the puppy silhouette.

And I had to do initials, which is what he's being called anyway.
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!

There's a matching blanket. Yup.

How cute is all of that???? And I totally had fun doing it. I need more people to have babies so I can do it again. I totally have ideas for little girls too... involving ruffles...
Damn. There goes an ovary rumble.

Better Late...

You know the saying. And I'm great at procrastinating, hence the lateness of this post.

Okaaay... National Punctuation Day was yesterday. But I couldn't resist making my mini cupcakes. No fancy flavors. I just used a box mix and a can of frosting (I know, I know...).

I HAD to make little punctuation marks. It just worked out too well.

Hubby enjoyed them.

And he was kind enough to suggest that I was eating the exclamation mark because I'm loud.

*sigh*

Hmmm...

So what do I want to share with y'all today?

Well, if you ever peek over at my Twitter feed you saw that my sis called me with some wedding crises yesterday. We're doing silk flowers and so we ordered some online. They came yesterday. Yay!

Um, they were totally the wrong color (and I won't go into whose fault it was in public, but it's not mine or the bride's).

So now sis has to call around to see if we can round up thirty-four stargazer lilies. Poor sissy. I thought she was going to cry when I was talking to her.

Second crisis: there are three flower girls. My mom did one dress. The other two were supposed to be done by someone else. My mom is done. Yay!

The other two have barely been started. Like, one is slightly started. The other is still a piece of fabric.

So now we're figuring that out. It's looking like my mom (who should be nominated for sainthood at this point) is going to do them. I'll try to help as much as possible (I swear mom!). But a few things have to be worked out first.

Did I mention the wedding is a week from Saturday? It is.

So if things get neglected around here, I'm sorry. I try to write posts ahead of time so that won't happen, but we'll see. All I know is, thank God for my gym membership. That treadmill is totally helping with my stress...

Wish List Wednesday

Ahhh... do you smell that? Yup, fall is here. Even if it's still super hot for the first few days of fall around here. And you know what fall means... Halloween!!! We even took our first trip to the Halloween store yesterday since we had Tad. So you can guess what kind of things I'm wishing for today...

I did a little online wishing at Z Gallerie (which I don't think we have in my town anymore) and found all these goodies.

I love these napkin rings. They're just cool. I don't know if I'd want to put them away.

These are pleasantly creepy. Silver spiders? These could go anywhere.
I reallyreallyreally want a glittered skull or two. Or seven. You know, whatever.

And continuing with glitter, I love this. I think he would be happy on my patio.

I've seen these a hundred times, but haven't bought them. You could do Jello shots in these, right?

This wall sconce is GORGEOUS! And I think I could leave it up year-round if I had a little bit of black in my decor.
I could leave this pretty mirror up year-round too. Which makes its price a little nicer. But not much.

Again, I'm thinking of leaving this up. A chandelier (or several) is on my wish list when we get a house.

Candelabra. Matching everything previously. To make it spookier I could always stretch cobwebs around it.

And I want the bag of skulls seen on the left. I just got a deep vase for some pretty decor and it needs some stones at the bottom. Hubby wants to put skulls in it for Halloween, maybe with a couple black branches. These are perfect.

So there you are. I hadn't browsed Z Gallerie in a long time, I'll have to go back more often! It's probably a good thing I don't have the money for some of these purchases right now though. I could do some serious damage. Expect more Halloween stuff to come as we get closer!

Correction

White tulle is the bane of my existence. That crap is hard to see on my cutting board!

Pics to come later, I stayed up cutting tulle and I have to make my gym trip early today. Because hopefully we'll be taking Tad to see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs after school today!

Monday, September 21, 2009

Evil...

Tulle is the bane of my existence. I swear I'm going to be having nightmares about drowning in it for the rest of the week.

We're less than two weeks from my sister's (okay, technically my in-law) wedding. As of right now the weather looks good (78 and sunny), the bride still fits in her dress (isn't that every bride's fear?), and things are coming together. I'm cutting tulle for centerpieces this week, making necklaces for us bridesmaids, and whatever else I get assigned.

*whew*

So how was everyone's weekend? We threw a second shower for Beth. I made cupcakes (mini ones!!!) and many incriminating pictures were taken. I'll post the cupcakes later (and maybe one or two bad ones, hee hee). If not today, then check back tomorrow. I'm hoping I don't lose time to write here daily. We shall see...

I'll see you soon. "I hope not sporadically."**

**quick, what's the quote from????**

Guess What Day It Is???

International Talk Like A Pirate Day!!!!

Unfortunately I'm super busy today, and not doing piratey things. But I'll attempt to rock some skulls in some form or another...

I'll happily listen to pirate songs and sing along (even if Tad isn't here to help me sing loudly).

Arrr, have some rum today mateys. (Is it wrong to suggest that after I posted songs from kid shows?)

Friday Goodness

So I've been tanning and I go to my mom's house since I don't want to spend time with the loud people who frequent the pools at our apartment (wow, I sound like a snob, but it's true). So yesterday I went over there and what do I find...

YESSSSS!!! TWO mini cupcake pans! I had these on our wedding registry and when we didn't get them they made their way to my Amazon list (side note: you should totally make one for your Christmas list, my mom and grandma love that I have one). Mom didn't even realize they were on my wish list, but she saw them while shopping the other day and decided to get them for me.

Can you say BEST MOM EVARRRRR!!!

I'll be breaking these lovelies in today with some special cupcakes for sissy's bridal shower tomorrow. I am SO excited! You may be seeing a lot of baby cupcakes popping up around here...

Simply Cannot Wait

I can't. Can't wait for fall.

The weather has been cool the past couple days and we've been able to sleep with our window open once again. Unfortch, tomorrow is supposed to be the beginning of a warming trend. BOOOOOO.

I am totally ready to bake some goodies involving pumpkin (because really, it's only acceptable to use pumpkin for about three months of the year). I'm ready to wear jeans instead of shorts. I'm ready to start straightening my hair again without sweating profusely. I'm ready for homemade chili in a crockpot. And I'm ready for carving pumpkins, putting an extra blanket on the bed, and hot coffee instead of iced.

Can you feel it coming?? What are you excited for in fall?

Wish List Wednesday

I just realized, as I sat and wondered what I desired enough to write about this week, that I've never posted anything baking-related. Which is funny since I'm obsessive with baking and anything to make my cupcakes cuter is a must! I can't wait to have a house one day. I may need a small pantry just for my baking supplies. Hmmm... must discuss that with hubby.

So this week I headed over to Bake It Pretty which is only one of the cutest baking supply shops out there. Everything you see here today comes from there.

These things are edible! How pretty are they? I'm not even about to attempt sugar work so I think I'd have to buy anything this pretty instead of trying myself. I'd love to throw them on some Mother's Day cupcakes.

This box is just cute. I need to go pick up some more cupcake boxes for occasions where they're a gift or something to be left somewhere. I can't go giving away my fancy plastic carriers, now can I?

These are the cutest labels ever. Nuff said.

Halloween colored sprinkles! And they're jumbo sized! I love jumbo-sized sprinkles.
Ohhhh and the cupcake liners. Let's just ooh and ahh over all of these.

*sigh*
So how cute is all this stuff? I can see getting out of hand with cute cupcake liners. They're just all so tempting!
Now I'm off to talk to hubby about that baking supply cabinet...

3 months, 1 week, 4 days

Until Christmas.

I'm not one of those people that obsesses and counts down or anything, but since I decided I want to make a lot of gifts this year I figured I should probably get started soon. Like, maybe I should start now! And yay for in-laws not reading my blog because at least I can somewhat discuss my ideas for them here!

Luckily I have six kids to find/make gifts for. Kids are easy. Among the ideas...

Reaching a decision is the hard part for them. Then there's the adults... my siblings-in-law are easy. I can get away with making them cookies every year and they'll be thrilled I'm their sister. Seriously, they look forward to it every year.

For my sisters I may try out some silhouettes of their kids, matted and framed. I think it will be cute. Maybe even some for my mother-in-law.

My mom and I have a super-cool-best-idea-ever brewing for a couple boys in our family, but I don't want to post it until it's started (because the pictures will be the best thing ever!!).

I have ideas for hubby (that can't be discussed because he reads here, hi honey!).

But I feel like I'm short on ideas for adults. So if any clever DIY types are reading, hit me up with some ideas! And if you're going to attempt the same insanity I am, FOR SURE hit me up. I'm actually pretty excited about all of this. Which is weird, because I never get excited for Christmas until after Halloween...

Time of My Life

I'm not usually one for tribute posts or posts "in memory of" a celebrity. Because really, what does it mean coming from me?

But Patrick Swayze finally lost his battle against cancer today.

I grew up on Dirty Dancing. I wanted a twirly skirt like Baby's, I knew all the songs, and I could even quote parts of the movie. To this day it's one of my favorites. So I felt this was in order.

Youtube won't let me embed the final scene from the movie, but if you feel like watching it and seeing Swayze at his best, click here.

And I'll leave you with a couple who was totally influenced by the movie. It's an oldie, but still worth watching.

Bits of Randomness

It's Monday, and my head has so many thoughts running around it that I can't stick with just one. So you get a day of randomness!
  • I went and supervised the campout my church kids had Friday night. At this thing I got hit on my a high school freshman (it was actually a funny story), heard multiple discussions about farts and fart noises (from the adults, not the kids), watched a ninja run into a fence, and slept in the back of my Blazer... for four hours.
  • I stitched until my fingers hurt (there's something to be said for thimbles), but in the end had the cutest baby shower gift ever.
  • I found a recipe for a sweet tea mojito and I WILL try it, end of summer be damned.
  • I got super stoked for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs which comes out THIS Friday! We may take Tad to see it in 3D.
  • I realized that a fear I have is possibly a full-blown phobia and now I'm wondering if I should go see somebody for it.
  • I actually watched most of the VMAs on MTV. Summary: Kanye is a douche, I heart Muse, Pattinson and the New Moon trailer made me squeal, and I want to be buff like Pink. Oh, and Lady Gaga is a freak.
  • I decided that I want to do a LOT of handmade goodies for Christmas. Now I need to decide what I'll be making.

So there ya go. Any suggestions on the phobia thing, or the handmade Christmas gifts? Feel free to hit me up. And for sticking with me, I give you a puppy. I had tears in my eyes I laughed so hard.

Saturday, September 12, 2009

*sigh*

I'm exhausted from our campout with the church kids. I'm depressed because I spilled my Starbucks.

But I'm better now. Because of this.

You're welcome.

Today

I remember last year I had trouble deciding what to write on this date. So when it doubt, keep it simple.

Thanks to all those who gave their lives that day. Thanks to their families. And thoughts and prayers for those same families today. It won't ever be an easy day for any of them.

Thanks to our military serving today. Thanks to their families. People can huff and puff about military and its necessity/actions/reputation, but our soldiers are the ones who should be thanked for their ability to huff and puff so freely.

Fly your American flags high today (I wish we had one at our little apartment) and remember.

Items So Beautiful I May Possibly Become Covetous

I know some of you very much enjoy my weekly list of items I strongly desire (otherwise known as my wish list). And after my funk yesterday, I thought I'd make it up to you today.

I know I've been going on and on about being ready for fall, but recently I've started looking at the vintage section of Etsy.

Oh the gloriousness of it all. Vintage section, I want to have your babies.

So I thought I'd share some of the amazing fantabulousness with you. Seriously, this stuff is eye candy.

I want this dress. Unfortunately my waist line wouldn't quite agree with being squeezed into it. But just look at it. Isn't it gorgeous? I would feel so grown up in it! (via Timeless Vixen Vintage)

And this beauty... *sigh* Pretty sure I would need the pearls to go with it. Gotta complete the look you know. (also via Timeless Vixen Vintage)

This is a sassy one! I can totally see wearing for a date night, or a girls' night, or one of my adventures watching my boys play. But I think I would go look for a pair of knockout yellow shoes. Because they would just work, ya know? (via Pretty Raccoon)

This necklace is just adorable. I love all the colors. They would make it go with pretty much anything. (via esbeads)

Okay, so a while ago I went garage saling with my cousin. And at one place there was this FABULOUS Samsonite luggage set in an amazing pearl color. Now I very badly want a vintage Samsonite luggage set. I would gladly accept this powdery blue. (via bushangie76)

How much do you love these shoes??? They look like the ultimate naughty secretary shoes! I would happily wear them for the upcoming bachelorette party for my sister. Or when I'm having a bad day. These things look like an instant pick-me-up. (via truly vintage)

These are equally fun, and crazy awesome! Pretty sure I'd be the envy of the club if I wore these to watch the boys play. (via hot vintage)

And then there's this baby. Ohhhhh how she makes me drool. I dream about her (okay, not really). But she's about $3,000 out of my price range. I told hubby that if he happens to come upon a few thousand bucks I would happily wear this. I'm in love. (via camellia collection)

So this isn't nearly everything I've been drooling over. The vintage party and wedding dresses make we want to get married again and have everyone dress in vintage. They're that amazing. I think I'll have to head over to my grandma's soon. I know she's still in possession of patterns for these types of goodies...

Wow

So I gotta say my mood did improve.

I got to church and the kids were WAY excited to see me (taking a month off our Wednesday night program will do that). How can you not be happy when kids are rushing to hug you?

Then I get a blog comment that I won a giveaway!!! My very first one! And it's from the lovely Less apathy. More cake. Seriously, if you're in the mood for cuteness, head over there.

So I promise I will be back tomorrow. I needed to shake this mood off anyway, it's just nice that I got some help doing so.

No List Today

I'm not feelin' it today. I'm just fed up and frustrated with several things right now. Hopefully I feel like posting something interesting tomorrow. We'll see.

You Should Have a Kid... For Reals

That's the opinion of my nephew. He seriously told hubby and I that we should have a kid so he can play with her. At random. There was no baby conversation going, he just busted out with it out of nowhere.

When I reminded him babies don't play he said he'll tickle her and make her laugh.

When I told him they don't do anything except lay around he said he'll make sure he doesn't step on her when she lays on the floor.

When I asked him whether he wanted a boy or a girl he said he didn't care. He'll play with either.

When I told him she would have to sleep in his room, he said he'll share with her.

He said he'll read to her, and teach her the alphabet and numbers when she's old enough.

So then we asked him about names. He had no suggestions for girls, but he suggested "Scooby Dooby Doo," "Shaggy," and something we can't remember. Then I told him the names we actually want (which I will not give away here because I'm that psycho that's afraid someone will steal our nonexistent child's name) and he liked them.

I'm telling you, all the cuteness, and his readiness to have a little cousin, and the sincere look on his face as he told me he wanted me to have a baby... it gave me an ovary rumble.

I think hubby is scared.

Monday, September 7, 2009

Ooooh, a day off!

Hope you're all enjoying it.

I'm tired from staying up to finish a book. I am flying through the Sookie Stackhouse books. LOVING them!

And later we're off to a lake to hang out with sis, her fiance, and the kids. I plan on working on my tan.

Perhaps I'll entertain you tomorrow with pictures of our adventures. Have a good holiday!

A Ha!

I thought of something nice for your Friday...
I took this one when we went to the beach a couple weeks ago. My mom loves it so I should probably get off my rear and go make a copy for her. I think it might be one of my favorites too.
Have a great three-day weekend!

Hola

It's Friday.

Don't you love when I state the obvious like that for y'all? I just want to make sure no one's flipped into some strange time warp or something.

I'm still a bit tired from our camping trip (sleep just isn't good enough when you're on an air mattress) so for today, you get random tidbits.
  • Our hunting trip was unsuccessful again. Oh well.
  • I'm very much in the mood to sew, but mom needs her machine this weekend. Maybe I'll try to do some crafty stuff anyway.
  • I've decided that I want to do a lot of handmade stuff for Christmas. Which means I need to start, ohhhh three months ago.
  • We are four weeks out from the wedding. I may try on my dress just to see if I notice a difference from last time.
  • Anyone want to order cupcakes? I could use the cash and the creative outlet.

And a random question for any fashionable types reading: are leggings still in at all? I have a couple CUTE dresses that barely qualify as dresses and I don't know if leggings underneath are still acceptable.

Happy Friday! If I get inspired later I'll hook y'all up with a better post.

Wish List Wednesday

By now I was hoping that the weather would have let up a little bit, but no. Today was another triple-digit day. While that is disappointing, it does have me looking forward to fall that much more. So don't be surprised if my next few wish lists are all based around fall fashion. It's kind of my therapy since I don't have money for any of these goodies at the moment.

So today I went for one of my favorite stores: Old Navy. That's right, everything you see today can be found there. How I love them and their affordability. So in case anyone was thinking of unbirthday gifts for me, a gift card would be splendid.

I think it's time for a new pair of jeans. No need to go overboard, but I could definitely use at least one new pair. And I very much want a relaxed-looking pair like these.

Since fall is still warm here, I figure I can get away with this super cute flutter sleeve top. I just love the colors in it!

I have a serious thing for purple. And a serious thing for jackets. This coat is beautiful and as soon as I get a job there's a good chance it will find its way to my closet.

Once again, we have some purple. I love cardigans, and I love the baggy fit of this one. I could dress it up or down and that makes me happy.

I'm not totally sure a shorty like me could pull off a long cardigan, but for this one I would try. I can already picture it with my boots I bought on clearance last year...

Here we continue with the purple. I told you it's a thing for me. But seriously, isn't this pretty?

I like this dress. It looks lightweight enough that I could even live with it right now. And then put some tights under it for winter.

And this dress is pretty and simple too. I like simplicity. The only thing that could be better is if it had purple... haha.

So there ya go. One more wish list for one more Wednesday. I kinda like how easy it was to pick everything out from one store, I may have to do that more often. Back tomorrow, hopefully with more camping stories for you. (I've been gone since Tuesday.)
