Sorry!
I totally forgot to upload the pictures of the cupcakes today. I got busy. And my morning is going to be more of the same. So I'll try tonight. Really.

wow wow wow
I am WIPED OUT from yesterday. Baking for hours Friday, baking again yesterday, whipping up some frostings to finish the job.. then cleaning the house, the pool, prepping food.... Add to that staying up drinking with everyone last night and I'm ready for a nap.
Today I have to go do some more cleaning. It was a good party, a good fight, good food and good people. We may get together and swim again today and kill some of the leftovers.
But for today, no pictures. I'll save that for tomorrow when you will gain ten pounds just by looking at the desserts I ended up making. Not a bad way to start a Monday, right?

Party!
Yup, we're having a party today. Little brother-in-law's birthday happens to fall on the same day as UFC 101. Which also happens to fall on a day that my parents are gone and let me use their house (and pool).
So I'm off getting ready today. Frosting cupcakes, prepping burgers, and other fun things.
What sucks is that I came to a realization. With my plans to lose weight I probably shouldn't be baking just for the heck of it anymore. So when I get around to posting the fabulous stuff I made for today, it might be the last for a couple months.
Unless someone wants to hire me to make some for them. *hint hint* It totally doesn't have to be for a party, if you just have a hankering for a dozen cupcakes then hit me up!

Friday Y'all!
As I typed that I was saying it in my head in a very Britney Spears voice. So I have issues... but I've got a hundred things to do today so my brain is a little off.
Woke up and went to Wal-Mart to return a dress (not enough room in the chesticle region) and happened upon a cute shirt for five bucks. Then came home and had some cereal, read the paper, and watched the finale for SYTYCD. I wanted one of the girls to win, so I was happy. By that time I had digested enough to go for my run, so I did. *whew* I hate that I let myself get out of shape, this is going to be actual work!
And now I have to make two kinds of cupcakes (okay, I don't have to but I'm an overachiever), head to my mom's to clean a bit, make a grocery list, and if I have any spare time start planning a bridal shower.
So let's take a moment to watch some goodness this Friday. Since I'm throwing a bridal shower in a few weeks, I chose to go with cute proposals. Which I sat here and watched. And cried. Because I'm a big fat girl.
The only way hubby could have done better (he proposed at Disneyland) would be to do this. We heart Scrubs.
This one made me giggle. I've had that song sung to me at karaoke before. Stupid boys.
I love this. Did I ever tell you guys about the time that we saw a proposal at a concert? It was when we saw Diamond Rio. Every girl in the audience squealed and cried. Myself included.
This is just insanely cool.
And this is the cutest, coolest, most awesome thing ever.

Eeek!
There are exactly eight weeks and two days until my sister-in-law's wedding. In which I am a bridesmaid. Standing next to a bridesmaid who is a size 4 (if I didn't like said bridesmaid I would curse her right now). I'm not going to give away my size (did anyone really think I would?) but I'm definitely not a 4.
So what am I doing over the next eight weeks and two days? I'm going to start running again. I'm actually going to do the Couch-to-5K Running Plan. Nine weeks and I should be running three miles. And seeing as how I have no gym membership, running is the cheapest (FREE!) way to lose some weight.
I'm not looking to lose so much that I have to have my dress altered (I swear I don't want you stressing about that right before the wedding, mom!), but I'm seriously at the point where I hate how I look in some of my clothes so I guess I should do something about it.
Not to mention hubby and I are currently looking at a vacation (as early as right after the wedding) and there's a certain warm climate with beaches that's definitely an option. I can't go there and NOT wear a swimsuit!
So I'll update every once in a while on how the weight-loss/running is going. Maybe I'll even do the run for breast cancer this year instead of the walk. Hear me mom? We may be signing up for the run!

Wish List Wednesday
I went with a theme this week. Because sometimes that makes life more convenient, you know? For those of you living under a rock, this week is the Discovery Channel's Shark Week. Hubby and I look forward to it every summer.
So in honor of Shark Week, I give you a shark-inspired wish list.
I don't know if I would actually wear this much. For fear of... oh, I dunno, PUTTING MY EYE OUT! But it's pretty stinking cool. (via veryrareearth on etsy)
And this guy is just cute. I'd wear him all the time! (via SickOnSin on etsy)
I carry water bottles around A LOT. This would make me happy and probably have me showing my water bottle off to everyone who would glance my way. (via Handamade on etsy)
And I like this. A LOT. I would wear it. With dresses, with jeans, wherever because it is JUST THAT COOL. (via rustychainjewelry on etsy)

Okay this is pretty much one of the most awesome things I've seen in a long time. You need to click on the link just for the pictures! I think I'm going to make myself one of these... (via mullishmuse on etsy)
And I think this would be so fun in a kid's bathroom! Maybe a little scary, but seriously... a shark on the wall? In your bathroom? Maybe even near the bathtub? Awesome. (via puteminthewall on etsy)

Hubby + Overnights...
Equals a bored wife who ends up making things. The last weekend of July was hubby's most recent (and hopefully LAST) series of overnight shifts. I'm a big fat chicken who has trouble falling asleep if my manly husband isn't home with me, so I need things to occupy my time.

So what did I do? Hit a couple websites with DIY projects and spotted instructions to make these beauties. I've already worn them both too!

This one is made with a paperclip and some extra ribbon I had lying around. The instructions called for a hot glue gun, but I just busted out a needle and some white thread to stitch those loops into place. Easy enough for me. (instructions here)

And this one is made out of... five or six paper clips. One for the ring and leaf, and four or five for the actual flower. I might make a few others in different colors now... (instructions here)

This was on a weekend it was too hot to bake, otherwise you would probably be seeing some sugary treats here instead of some oh-so-fancy paperclip jewelry. But I like it!
