All About Me

You're probably laughing at my title or thinking "Isn't she ALWAYS all about herself?" I just thought it a better title than "random questions." I like these questions. There's some that I haven't answered a hundred times already.

Do you sleep with your sheets tucked in or out?

-I think if it were up to me completely, at least the bottom would be tucked in (I like to leave my legs out when it's hot). But hubby HATES the sheets tucked in. And I can live with it that way so...

Have you ever stolen a street sign before?

-Nope. I've wanted a few. Hubby and I have streets with our names in town and I wish I had them sometimes...

Do you like to use post-it notes?

-YES. When we went out of town I left my brother a 4-post-it note instead of one big piece of paper.

Do you cut out coupons but then never use them?

-I used to be really bad. Now I don't even bother cutting them out that often.

Would you rather be attacked by a big bear or a swarm of a bees?

-Can we discuss the meaning of "attack?" Is the bear only charging at me? Because if I'm anywhere near where there are bears, odds are I'll have a gun. Meaning if it's only charging, I'm emptying my magazine in that guy.

Do you have freckles?

-Not really. Unless you count the flat moles that aren't really moles at all. I call them freckles, don't know about y'all.

Do you always smile for pictures?

-Yes. I hate it when people think it's cool to look tough in their pictures. I guess there are a few times where I don't smile. But that's because I'm sticking out my tongue or making a face.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

-Biggest? Eeesh... as of right now, ignorance. It always irritates me, but hubby informed me that on one of his forums some moron opened their mouth about teachers and a big hooplah ensued. It's amazing what some people think about my chosen profession.

Do you ever count your steps when you walk?

-Sometimes if I'm walking up or down stairs. But not usually.

Do you ever dance even if there is no music playing?

-A lot. I do happy dances constantly.

What size is your bed?

-California King. I lurve it.

What is your Song of the week?

-Let's go with... "Simple Man." Because it's awesome. And I heard it at work on Pandora today.

Whats your least favorite movie?

-That's tough. I can usually find one redeeming quality in most movies I see. Umm... OH! House of 1,000 Corpses. That was weak. I expected more from Rob Zombie.

What is your favorite food?

-At the moment, fruit. Good thing to be craving right now while it's hot.

What movies could you watch over and over and still love?

-300. The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Clueless. Marie Antoinette. Phantom of the Opera. There are probably a lot more, but those are what came to mind quickly.

Were you ever a boy/girl scout?

-No. I didn't do anything growing up. I was a dissenter.

Would you ever strip or pose nude in a magazine?

-Nope. No doubt in my mind about that one.

When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper?

-In June. To my gramps.

Can you change the oil on a car?

-I probably could if I had to. But that's what hubby is for. :)

Ever gotten a speeding ticket?

- Three. But I worked my way out of one of those.

Ran out of gas?

-I thought I did.

Favorite kind of sandwich?

-There's one at Panera and I can't remember the name of it... Sierra Turkey maybe? Sooo tasty.

Best thing to eat for breakfast?

- Pancakes and bacon.

What is your usual bedtime?

-It's never the same. I guess I should work on that with the job starting soon.

Are you lazy?

-Sometimes I think I am, but other times no. So I don't know. I'd say ask my husband, but if he says yes I don't see myself being happy with him.

When you were a kid, what did you dress up as for Halloween?

-The ones I remember... a witch, a fairy, Sleeping Beauty, a fairy (again), a unicorn, a 50's girl... and that's all that comes to mind right now. I need to mention that all were handmade by my mommy.

Which are better legos or lincoln logs?

-Legos FTW.

Are you stubborn?

-To the nth degree.

Who is better...Leno or Letterman?

-Conando!!!

Afraid of heights?

-Yes and no. I can do some serious rollercoasters, but other times heights get to me.

Sing in the car?

-Probably every time I'm in it.

Dance in the shower?

-Haha, no. I don't have a radio in my bathroom.

Dance in the car?

-Of course.

Ever used a gun?

-Frequently.

Do you think musicals are cheesy?

- NO! They're the most wonderful thing in the world!

Occupations you wanted to be when you were a kid?

-Rock star, ballerina, marine biologist, teacher. That's pretty much it.

Do you believe in ghosts?

-Sure do. If you'd heard the things I have you would too.

Ever have a Deja-vu feeling?

-Yup.

First concert?

-That would be NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK!

Wal-Mart, Target or Kmart?

-I prefer Target most days, but sometimes you just gotta hit Wal-Mart.

Nike or Adidas?

-Adidas. Since high school.

Cheetos Or Fritos?

-Cheetos. Which I apparently inherited from my mom.

Peanuts or Sunflower seeds?

-Sunflower seeds.

Ever take dance lessons?

-Not as a kid. Took a couple classes in college and now I wish I had done it as a child.

Is there a profession you picture your spouse doing?

-Seeing as how he's been a rad tech (short for radiology, but he IS pretty rad) for a couple years, I see him doing that. But I can see him running our own ranch or something. He's pretty rugged and manly.

Own any record albums?

-I had temporary ownership of my mom's childhood ones when I was a kid. She still has them.

Own a record player?

-No. That was my mom's too.

Regularly burn incense?

-No. Hubby has asthma. I don't like it much anyway. Reminds me of hippies.

Ever been in love?

-Most definitely.

Who would you like to see in concert?

-Well, seeing as how the Backstreet Boys have been crossed off my list now (*sigh*)... I don't know! I wouldn't mind seeing Tim McGraw. Or George Strait for a second time. Or Brad Paisley for a second time.

Hot tea or cold tea?

-Both in their appropriate seasons.

Can you swim well?

-Yes.

Can you hold your breath without holding your nose?

-Yes.

Are you patient?

-I'm getting a little better at it.

DJ or band, at a wedding?

-I've had no problem with a DJ. We had one at our own wedding.

Which are better black or green olives?

-Black. Especially when I get to put them on the kids' fingers. :)

Can you knit or crochet?

-Neither. But I'm finally sewing.

How long have you been married?

-Over two years.

Who was your HS crush?

-There were plenty. Just ask my mom.

Do you cry and throw a fit until you get your own way?

-No. I'm not two and a brat.

Do you have kids?

-Not yet. But I have a Tad. :)

What’s your favorite color?

-Purple. I just covered a bulletin board in my classroom with purple and it makes me happy.

Do you miss anyone right now?

-Not right now. Probably will later.

Later days.

Random Question Time!

So here's a cupcake-related question for ya.

I've done white chocolate cupcakes with pomegranate cream cheese frosting. And white chocolate cupcakes with lemon frosting.

What else sounds good with white chocolate? Caramel? Coffee? More white chocolate? Suggestions, please. And to make it easier, here's a poll for ya. Just point and click. (Although this is apparently a difficult concept since I had 18 views but only 2 votes on my last poll. Hmm.)

What kind of frosting for a white chocolate cupcake?

P.S. - If you've seen the recipe floating around the interwebs for microwave cake/coffee mug cake/chocolate mug cake... RUN. DON'T DO IT. PMS and a lack of baked goods in the house made me try it last night. It was so many kinds of wrong.

Pondering

A friend mentioned something via Twitter earlier this week and it actually stuck with me a little bit. You know that AT&T commercial with the lost dog? If you don't, watch then continue reading.

This person mentioned, "Would that actually happen?"

Of course the immediate answer is no. Sure it's a nice idea that gives everyone the warm fuzzies, but do most people take the time to think about others in this day and age? Not often. Then I thought about it a bit.

Maybe small towns that people don't even realize still exist. You know, where you know your neighbors and there's one high school for the whole town. I can see it happening in those kind of places.

Where I am? Maybe. I can see taking a pic and sending it if I saw an adorable kid out hanging the signs. Who doesn't want to help out a sad kid?* And I think some people around here could actually be willing to be helpful.

I dunno, just an interesting thought for you today. What do you guys think? Do any of you live in that pleasant little town where the text message would spread like wildfire until the little girl got her dog back?

It Counts as a Post!

I'm off having fun at Great America today so here's a lame survey-filler-post for y'all. Random questions about hubby and me. I'll try to keep the answers as amusing as possible.

♥ What are your middle names?
Elizabeth & Richard. Which amuses me because our middle names sound like snobby, upper-class tennis club members. Which is the complete opposite of us.

♥ How long have you been together?
Seven years in October. Married for just over fifteen months.

♥ How long did you know each other before you started dating?
*prepares for onslaught of emails/texts/phone calls* Well, we actually found each other online. So the first time we actually met was on our first date. But it was only about three weeks from our first date that we decided we were serious. So which time span do you want to count? A month of talking online before we went out, or three(ish) weeks between first date and serious relationship.

♥ How old are each of you?
Old and older. He's older. Actually, 27 and 30. Which isn't "old" by most standards, but we definitely can't stay out late and party like we used to.

♥ Whose siblings do/ did you see the most?
It's pretty close, but probably his. At least his brother. We're BFFs.

♥ Do you have any children together?
Not yet. We're crazy in the fact that we wanted to get married and have established careers first. We're such rebels.

♥ What about pets?
None at the moment. We're waiting until we own a house.

♥ Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
Finances. For sure. Isn't that the hardest thing for everyone? Except rich folks. Then I guess their problem would be something silly like which country club they should join.

♥ Did you go to the same school?
Nope. We went to the same JC for a bit, but not at the same time.

♥ Are you from the same home town?
We didn't grow up in the same town, but he was born in mine.

♥ Who is the smartest?
I would be facetious and say I am, but honestly he probably is. But not by much.

♥ Who is the most sensitive?
That would be me. I cry at the stupidest crap on the face of the planet. Just last week he walked in to find me crying over So You Think You Can Dance. I think he questions my sanity every once in a while.

♥ Where do you eat out most as a couple?
Totally depends. We're the type of people that get stuck on one thing for a month or two and then all of a sudden we're craving something else and that's our new go-to place. There's a lot of pregnant jokes in our house.

♥ Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Vegas. Hopefully next year we'll be hitting Florida.

♥Who has the worst temper?
That would be me. Although I think it's less of a question of temper and more a question of self-control. I'm mouthy.

♥ Who does the cooking?
Both of us. But as far as trying new things it's usually me. Then he falls down and worships me for the domestic goddess that I am. Next time I have a successful recipe I may demand a crown...

♥ Who is more social?
Definitely me. But I think that's the case with most couples I know.

♥Who is the neat Freak?
Neither of us.

♥ Who is the more stubborn?
We're both stubborn, but I totally take the title and rock the "Little Miss Stubborn" sash there.

♥ Who hogs the bed?
Me. Although there have been random times where he does.

♥ Who wakes up earlier?
Depends on our schedules.

♥ Where was your first date?
Lunch at TGI Fridays. The A's were playing on the television sets and I think he was a little turned on by how into baseball I was.

♥ Who has the bigger family?
Him. No question there. The number of first cousins is somewhere in the eighties or nineties I believe.

♥ Do you get flowers often?
Nope. But that's okay.

♥ How do you spend the holidays?
Trying to split it between the families. For the most part. Easter is always with his side because there's no wee ones on mine. The Fourth is with whoever has the most alcohol and the best food. haha...

♥ How long did it take to get serious?
Threeish weeks. I could count, but I'm far too lazy and I doubt you care that much.

♥ Who does/ did the laundry?
Both of us. Although sometimes he's too scared of what he might shrink/bleach/ruin so I'll do it.

♥ Who’s better with the computer?
Him.

♥ Who drives when you are together?
Usually him. And it's funny that that question is there because my sister-in-law's fiance just asked me that yesterday (he didn't want to drive and was trying to convince sis).

There. More random stuff you didn't quite care enough to ask about my husband and I. Actually, if you do have any random questions (that I'll actually answer) shoot me an email. Or leave me a comment. That might be kind of fun.

Quickie

Just something for you loyal friends to read while I'm gone. Another survey, but it's a Christmas edition! *thanks to Bon for forwarding it through email a while back*

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
At Christmas, always paper. And it's always coordinating. Bags only happen for exceptionally large or exceptionally small presents.

2. Real tree or Artificial?
This year, real. Probably real for at least a couple years. But we will get artificial at some point down the road.

3. When do you put up the tree?
Whenever we get time, but sooner is better than later.

4. When do you take the tree down?
We'll see when we do it. Around New Year's probably.

5. Do you like eggnog?
Nope. I'll pass.

6. Favorite gift received as a child?
Right now I'm awfully reminiscent for the Nintendo we got as kids.

7. Hardest person to buy for?
My dad is pretty difficult sometimes. I have to get an explicit response from him or ask my mom what he needs every year.

9. Do you have a nativity scene?
We don't. I don't know if I'll get one or not. Oooh, would it be wrong if I made one with Nightmare Before Christmas characters?!

10. Mail or email Christmas cards?
Mail for sure.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
Hmmm... I'd have to think on that one. Maybe a sweater that wasn't really my style?

12. Favorite Christmas Movie?
It's a three-way tie: Peanuts (gotta dance with mom!), Elf (love love love it), and White Christmas (aMAzing)

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
Depends. Sometimes I start early if I find something that will be perfect.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
Nope. But I've contemplated it.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
I can't pick one. Christmas Eve is tamales. Christmas day is an insane amount of food that makes me feel fat all day (yay for Chex mix!).

16. Lights on the tree?
Already there, and they're the multicolored.

17. Favorite Christmas songs?
I like lots of them. But I'm pretty partial to Michael Buble right now.

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?
Furthest we travel is Madera.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Ummm... Rudolph, Donner, Blitzen, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Dasher, Comet, Cupid... I did it! I totally had to sing the song though.

20. Angel on the tree top or a star?
Neither this year. Haha... there's a Jack Skellington who looks like he has hydrocephalus perched at the top of my tree.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
We do presents with my dad's side on Christmas Eve, everyone else is Christmas morning and day.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?
That there's a (yet-to-be-proven) correlation between holiday shopping and dropping IQs. Have some patience people! And move your shopping cart from behind my car!!!

23. Favorite ornament theme or color?
Bright colors with white (hot pink, turquoise, lime green, orange, red... matches my sheets).

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner?
Our dinner is typically lots of choices, we don't do a big turkey or anything.

25. What do you want for Christmas this year?
All I want for now is good weather for Tad's first trip to Disneyland.

26. Who is most likely to respond to this?
Nobody. I'm not really forwarding it.

Name three unusual things you are good at
knowing when a date falls on the calendar, remembering birthdays

What are three things you are currently coveting?

Guess what?

That's right, no creative juices are flowing so it's another surveyyyyy. When school gets out this should become more interesting. I promise.

What kind of soap is in your bathtub right now?
Well, Tim has his manly soap (I think it's Old Spice) and I have my minty fresh stuff from Bath and Body.

Do you have any watermelon in your refrigerator?
I hope not, because if we do, it's so old it's toxic.

What would you change about your living room?
Bigger?

Are the dishes in your dishwasher clean or dirty?
Clean. Tim ran it today.

What is in your fridge?
Eggs, ground turkey, some random veggies (some of which are probably bad), a few leftovers, a pitcher of water, some vitamin water... do you really want me to list everything? Let's just say "food" and be done with it.

What is on top of your refrigerator?
Random crap. Including whey protein powder and napkins.

What color or design is on your shower curtain?
I haven't taken down my Halloween one, so it's still skeletons. It will eventually be changed back to the blue stripes.

How many plants are in your home?
None inside. But I have two on my front porch and one on my back.

Is your bed made right now?
No, we don't do that often.

Comet or Soft Scrub?
Comet, probably because that's what my mom used growing up.

Facial Wash?
Well... there's always St. Ives apricot scrub (or a knock off of it), and my fancy expensive acne stuff. And right now there's a second fancy expensive acne wash.

Is your closet organized?
The stuff that's actually in there is...

Can you describe your flashlight?
My favorite is my mag lite. It's black and I could kill people with it.

Do you drink out of glass or plastic most of the time at home?
Depends. We have both.

Do you have iced tea made in a pitcher right now?
I don't believe so.

If you have a garage, is it cluttered?
It's cluttered in one area, but the rest is pretty organized.

Curtains or blinds?
We have blinds that everyone has, but I need some curtains. Mommy...

How many pillows do you sleep with?
One right now. It'll become two again at some point.

Do you sleep with any lights on at night?
The night light gets turned on when Tad is here.

How often do you vacuum?
Tim vacuums more than me.

Standard toothbrush or electric?
Standard.

What color is your toothbrush?
Blue and orange, my next one is pink I think...

Do you have a welcome mat on your front porch?
We do. It has monkeys on it.

What is in your oven right now?
Nothing. I don't use it for storage and we sure aren't cooking anything right now.

Is there anything under your bed?
Yes, but it's all in plastic tubs, not just random crap strewn about.

Chore you hate doing the most?
Cleaning. Just in general.

Do you have a separate room that you use as an office?
Nope. The spare room belongs to my Tad. And Micah when she stays here.

How many mirrors are in your home?
Five. One of which is so high you can't see in it, but it's decorational, not functional.

What color are your walls?
Some creamy color.

Do you keep any kind of protection weapons in your home?
My husband is a weapon. haha... actually, given a threatening situation, I would turn just about anything into a weapon.

What does your home smell like right now?
Like my house.

Favorite candle scent?
Cinnamon vanilla.

What kind of pickles (if any) are in your refrigerator right now?
Dill. No other kind is acceptable. Ever.

Ever been on your roof?
Nope. Not here, not at Tim's old house, not at my mom's.

Do you own a stereo?
Yes. Thanks to my father and stepmom in law!

How many TVs do you have?
Two. And we only have two because Tim's coworker gave us one that he wasn't wanting anymore.

How many house phones?
Zero. We don't want to pay for it. We would never use it.

Do you have a housekeeper?
HA! If only!

Is there a smoke detector in your home?
Yes. And I hate it. It's inches from the kitchen and super sensitive so it's constantly going off.

In case of fire, what are the items in your house which you’d grab if you only could make one quick trip?
If Tad was here, definitely him. I'd try to grab the laptops and my photo CDs. If there's time, I'd go for the jewelry box. Man... we need a fireproof safe, I have crap that needs to be in there.
