What Have YOU Been Up To?

Oh look, a blog! It's been getting busier around here. Yesterday with some fabric cutting, laundry, and jiu jitsu (I don't actually participate, but if Tad is going I'll try to go and keep an eye on him). Today we picked the kids up like we normally do on Tuesdays and the kids got to make their teacher gifts! I used this idea from Bakerella and because I'm super lame, I forgot to take pictures. We swapped the pink M&Ms for Christmas colors of course. And they looked WAY cute. Oh well, I was pressed for time and that tends to make me forget pictures.

I cleaned this morning though and that means that tomorrow is the day we go get our Christmas tree!!! I MUST get some sewing done so I'll be doing some of that as well. I'm taking lots of pictures of the cuteness for the kids so that will be showing up at some point. Church tomorrow night, then maybe I'll decorate the tree during Glee. It's the fall season finale! What will I do without it??

Thursday morning I have an check up with the optometrist (he gave me a new type of contact so he wants to see me). And more sewing. And laundry. Because Friday at about 5:00 PM I'm out of here for the weekend. Then out of here for our big Tahoe trip as soon as I get back.

Here It Comes

It's November. Like, a full week in. That means craziness. Last night I was watching the news and the anchorman said, "Only about six weeks until Christmas!"

I promptly cursed the man.

Everyone tends to have a lot going on this year. So in order to make some of you feel better, I'll share the upcoming stress with you.

3 days until cupcakes for mom's work.
11 days until New Moon (I'm not actually seeing it opening day though, so this doesn't technically matter)
12 days until a cupcake order for a birthday party (I'm super excited about these)
17 days until Thanksgiving (maybe I should offer to make my pumpkin cupcakes)
32 days until I head to SoCal with the parents (hubby has to work) for a big party
35 days until I leave for vacation (Tahoe!)
36 days until my birthday
40 days until we celebrate Christmas with my father-in-law (he always gets the Saturday before Christmas)
45 days until Christmas Eve
46 days until Christmas

Holy crap. Somewhere between days 36 and 45 I have loads of baking to do. It's not Christmas without a kitchen (and dining room) full of cookies. I also have sewing to do. Because I'm a genius (or crazy/stupid/insane) and decided that I want to make some gifts this year.

Wow.

Hmmm...

So what do I want to share with y'all today?

Well, if you ever peek over at my Twitter feed you saw that my sis called me with some wedding crises yesterday. We're doing silk flowers and so we ordered some online. They came yesterday. Yay!

Um, they were totally the wrong color (and I won't go into whose fault it was in public, but it's not mine or the bride's).

So now sis has to call around to see if we can round up thirty-four stargazer lilies. Poor sissy. I thought she was going to cry when I was talking to her.

Second crisis: there are three flower girls. My mom did one dress. The other two were supposed to be done by someone else. My mom is done. Yay!

The other two have barely been started. Like, one is slightly started. The other is still a piece of fabric.

So now we're figuring that out. It's looking like my mom (who should be nominated for sainthood at this point) is going to do them. I'll try to help as much as possible (I swear mom!). But a few things have to be worked out first.

Did I mention the wedding is a week from Saturday? It is.

So if things get neglected around here, I'm sorry. I try to write posts ahead of time so that won't happen, but we'll see. All I know is, thank God for my gym membership. That treadmill is totally helping with my stress...

Evil...

Tulle is the bane of my existence. I swear I'm going to be having nightmares about drowning in it for the rest of the week.

We're less than two weeks from my sister's (okay, technically my in-law) wedding. As of right now the weather looks good (78 and sunny), the bride still fits in her dress (isn't that every bride's fear?), and things are coming together. I'm cutting tulle for centerpieces this week, making necklaces for us bridesmaids, and whatever else I get assigned.

*whew*

So how was everyone's weekend? We threw a second shower for Beth. I made cupcakes (mini ones!!!) and many incriminating pictures were taken. I'll post the cupcakes later (and maybe one or two bad ones, hee hee). If not today, then check back tomorrow. I'm hoping I don't lose time to write here daily. We shall see...

Holy Monkey

I'm busy today making phone calls and making as many of these babies as I can. And I realized that my next six weeks are full of INSANITY. So much insanity that I may just refer to it as insanity squared. Because I'm a math nerd you know.

8/26 - Something top secret scheduled, and hopefully a show that night (my favorite boys are playing!)
8/29 - Bridal shower that mom and I are planning. Taking up most of this week.
8/30 - Possible wedding planning meeting. And DAVE MATTHEWS BAND! I've only wanted to see them for ten years or so...
8/31 or 9/1 - Another hunting trip. For two or three nights.
9/4 - Hopefully I'll get to spend a weekend with my favorite Kindergarten manlet.
9/10 - Hubby and I are going to see Gary Allan!!!! *swoon*
9/11 - Lucky me, I get to stay up ALL NIGHT with some 5th and 6th grade kids at church. Joy.
9/12 - Baby shower for one of hubby's cousins. No clue if I'll get to sew something like I had hoped.
9/19 - Second bridal shower. I'm not totally in charge of this one though.
9/26 - Sissy's bachelorette party! Plans still aren't clear, but it'll be a crazy night for sure.
10/3 - THE WEDDING. Which means rehearsal and set up the day before that.

That's just my calendar right now. There's no telling what else may be added. I may start tutoring again by then, or even have a job! (hint hint districts) I'm exhausted just looking at it!

Hallelujah for vacation right after the wedding.

Back to Craziness

Tad wanted to come home with me on Saturday from a party with the family. So of course we let him. And you know that means fun and craziness will be going on around here.

This afternoon we made a diorama for the dinosaurs my mom bought him a couple weeks ago. (Side note: he's FINALLY starting to love dinosaurs and this makes me BEYOND excited) We also went to the library (where he got two dinosaur books, and one that I was stoked for, and two other ones).

Tomorrow is the movies (this kid is totally scoring on the movies lately, this will be the fourth he's seen in the past two weeks... and that's with a week of not being here with us). And we'll probably decorate a couple shirts with some iron-on transfers we picked up last time he was here. He and hubby will have adventures while I tutor. Then he and I will have adventures while hubby goes to jiu jitsu. Probably head out to buy some supplies for crafts to come later in the week.

I swear that I'll get some pictures up this week. There's a lot going on here already. Then Thursday we're heading off to Great America with hubby's mom, step-dad, and three of the kids. There will obviously be pictures (especially since Spongebob is there and I think Tad will have a brain hemorrhage when he sees him).

"Insanity" is the word of the week over here.

Along with "sleep deprivation."

You Can Fire Me

I'm not going to post any pics today. This is actually the first time I've been online all day. It was another busy day around here. Hubby, the kid, and I ran around a bit. Took him to mom's work where everyone marveled at the kid's cuteness. I tutored a bit. Brother-in-law came by. And now I have a toddler asleep on my leg.

I'll honestly try to post tomorrow. Swear.

Wow

I was a regular Santa's elf yesterday. Busy all day. Wanna see what I accomplished? Do ya???

I painted the kids' names for their rooms! How cute did they turn out? Cole loves the Colts so the horseshoe symbol was perfect. Tad (Paul, which I will not call him) has Spiderman stuff on his bed, so Spiderman letters it is. Taytem's letters could possibly be my favorite. They've got sparklies! And Anthony's name just looks cute.

I'm pretty impressed with my work. The letters are out in the garage now letting their clear sealing coat dry. I hope the kids like them Christmas morning!

Those things took an unbelievable amount of time. I painted the surface, then I had to do the sides, then I had to fix any mess-ups, then I had to put on all the details! And after that I even had time to bake a batch of cookies.

Watch out Martha. I'm gonna take your job.

Things to do, things to do...

It's finally the insanely busy time for me.

Today I have a field trip with my former class. Walking up to the IMAX to see a film about the space station. Should be fun, but freezing.

Saturday is a big thing at dad-in-law's house. First it's Tim's grandma's birthday lunch, then we have our early Christmas with his dad and stepmom. So I've got to finish that shopping. Actually, I bet I can get Tim to do it tomorrow...

Then the baking needs to get underway. I have a couple new cookies I want to try this year. We'll see if that happens for me or not. I so wish I had a bigger kitchen for that project. It's gonna be tough to get everything done in my tiny kitchen with no space.

I have to finish my shopping. And then wrap everything.

I love Christmas, but there's never enough time to get ready for it! Anyone else running around like an insane person this week?

Why is it Sunday already???

So all day I kept thinking it was Saturday. Wishful thinking? Maybe...

And now I sit here waiting for tomorrow. Needing to take a shower, thinking about how my day will go... *sigh*

I got a call from my master teacher tonight, she messed up her back and won't be there tomorrow. Well, not for the teaching part anyway. She has to come in the afternoon for conferences. So there will be a sub, but the class is pretty much all mine. I had a two-second freak out until I realized I can so handle that class. Plus tomorrow is a short day (because of the aforementioned conferences) so there's a whole hour less that I have to teach. I can handle it.

I got my laundry done this weekend. Well, the important stuff. I can now get dressed for work this week. That's always a good thing. Now there's just some stuff waiting to be hung up, but I'm too lazy to do it tonight. I think I'll take my shower, read ahead in the book that I'm reading to my students, then go to bed.

Busy week. I just have that feeling. But Friday and Saturday will hopefully make it go fast. Totally ready to take the kids to have their pics taken on Friday. Then trick or treating. Then maybe me and Beth will go out. Then PARTY on Saturday!
