Friday Photo

It's Friiiiidaaaay! I have only two conferences today, both right after school. So I'll be heading home early! Well, after lesson planning and picking up a prescription. :/

So I have these really high ceilings at home and I've been wanting to do a gallery-type wall above my buffet since we moved in. I finally did it. And it only took 11 months! 12 months by the time I'm posting it! Yay me!

So here it is. I rather enjoy it.

I'm aware the pictures are small so here are a few of them that I zoomed in on.

Clockwise starting in the top left corner: a sibling pic taken by an amazing friend of mine, my massive thrifted frame and my super cute lettering (DIY project), a random 19 (if you know me you don't have to ask). BTW, the backing behind the "LOVE" frame is actually a mustard color, not the pukey greenish the computer makes it look.

Starting up in the corner again: framed monogram (another DIY), my brother and brother-from-another-mother lookin' all handsome, a hilarious picture of us and our "son," a custom cartoonized family picture done by a great friend. I commissioned him last year for my mom's birthday present. I liked it so much I needed it for my wall. Side note: again with the pukey green color actually being mustard.

And starting in the corner: a gorgeous picture of Tad as Max (again taken by my dear Steven), a picture I took at Epcot, one of my favorite wedding photos, and a super cool piece I got off Etsy (I would look up the info, but let's face it... I'm lazy).

I didn't feature a couple other photos (taken by me as well as others), a last-minute crafty piece (due to the need for another frame up there), and another awesome Etsy find. And there's no picture of the actual buffet because it's not clean. At least not clean enough to showcase on the blog. It'll be clean pretty soon (we're having a party here) so maybe I'll remember to photograph it then.

I love my wall. If you want help with one hit me up, I'm pretty much a pro by now.

Happy Friday!

5 Things

It's Tuesday... hollllaaaaaa.

Don't ask me where that came from, because I really couldn't tell you. I can tell you that Blogger's little "improvements" or whatever they're wanting to call them are really annoying me. I feel like it's slowing me down or something. Anywho, that's not what we're here for today.

Over break I didn't get much accomplished. Shooting trip got rained out, car got delayed (and at this point I don't want it if it has to come from the riDONKulous dealer that we've dealt with), PLUS Arthur decided to be sick and try to die (hello shop, goodbye money). But let's look at some things that DID happen...

5 Things I Accomplished Over Break
  1. My gallery wall!!! Pics to come later this week... maybe.
  2. A wreath for the front door. Also possible pics to come later.
  3. Set a date for hubby's birthday party.
  4. A decent amount of reading for the fun of it.
  5. Bought the last thing needed to recover my dining room chairs!
I'm kind of loving my house. And I'm well on my way to getting a couple rooms finished in it. Well, mostly finished. I dunno, does staining furniture need to be complete too? I suppose...

I'm going to go dream about what happens next for my house. Happy Tuesday!

Hola

At some point I WILL start wish lists again. I just need to find a better way to do since I'm not on my own computer. But the good news is that I should have my computer back by next week!!! At least that was the status as of Monday.

Anyway, much is going on the House of Typhoid this week. (I kinda like that name, hello clothing line! Oh wait, I'm not a designer...) I've been putting things on the walls finally. And there's more that has to go up. Tomorrow we may pick up some paint for my bench in the entryway. Plus thread so I can make my curtains! I got a wine rack/cupboard of cuteness from my mom. It needs some painting unfortunately, so there's a few more bucks. I'm getting a desk from sissy today that will definitely need work down the road. If only I could find a decent dresser for little to no money. I really don't like ours. Some of the drawers are stupid small. Which makes it feel like it's stupid small. And it's super heavy! And it has a mirror that attaches (which I don't like). But enough about the dresser that I despise...

That's what's been going on here. Working on everything is going to be a loooong process. There are at least three pieces of furniture that need to be stained. Possibly two that will get a coat of paint. Pictures need to be printed for frames...

Any volunteers? I'll buy the beer.

Wednesday Wish List

I took FOREVER looking for things. I think my lack of motivation was due to the internet problems the last couple days. I almost wrote the words "RELIABLE INTERNET SERVICE" as a blog post and left it at that.

But then I thought about it and last weekend was so nice that I was wishing for a patio set. So I scoped out some outdoor stuff this week. Everything is from Target (no individual links this week because I didn't want to push my internet luck).

Nice, plain, simple patio set. I don't entertain a ton so I think a little set like this would be fine.
And I love these string lights. I think I pick them up every time we're in the store. They have those capiz shells all the way around. Love those things.
Fire pit is a must. Even if it can't technically be called a pit. I love these things. They make me want to have the kids over for a sleepover and roast marshmallows. This one even has matching seats.

I really need a lounge chair for my back yard. We have trees that shade most of the yard, especially the grassy area. So if I want to tan I'm stuck on the concrete. You don't exactly want to lay on concrete. Not so comfy.

I would switch the neutral color for this cute stripe though. And use solid turquoise on the dining set (I have this all planned out).

And I totally want a bird bath. Except I would spray paint this one black. Because then it would match everything else. And I like black. It matches my soul.*

So there ya are. Luckily the internet decided to stick with me long enough to post this. Woohoo! But I will be checking out other service providers this week. I'm fed up with Comcast.

*It's an ongoing joke with hubby and me. Every time we talk about something in the color black we have to say, "Black... like my soul." We're very emo that way. Okay, not really, just weird.

Wednesday Wish List

I had a good morning. We found the old range that we were looking for. Of course that was after running into some snooty woman who suggested that nothing like that would ever exist so close to residential areas. Right lady. Go worship the new health care plan now. I have no use for you.

So hubby, brother and I found it. Shot a few hundred rounds. I decided that v-neck shirts are a bad idea when the gun you're shooting ejects the brass RIGHT at you (I had some hopping moments to make sure nothing went down my shirt).

And now I'm home giving you a wish list. Today it's some random things on Etsy I've been eying for - you guessed it - the house.

Very much want this for my little man's room. He would love it. (via Dayna Gedney)

This guy is just too cute! This would also be adorable in Tad's room. (via pumml)

And because I always tell Tad I love him to infinity and beyond, I think he needs this one. (via singlestonestudios)
I like the idea of having this in my sewing room. Different color though. Maybe yellow... (via KeepCalmShop)

I love this!! I love having fresh flowers so it's perfect. And it can go right by our table. (via vol25)

I like this guy. He would have to go in Tad's room though. I don't think cartoon robots belong in the living room, do you? (via botodesigns)

And this wall vinyl is pretty much awesome. With my love for The Beatles and all. Just not sure where it would go yet. It would be pretty cute in the middle of some family pics. (via studio jk)

Can you tell our walls have been the focus of things lately? It's hard to find "grown up" art that I like though. Feel free to send suggestions my way. My walls are a bit too naked.

Friday Photo

Hello friends! It's Friday!!! Okay, that's not nearly as meaningful when you aren't fortunate enough to be gainfully employed...

Here's a fun picture for your Friday.

THAT my friends, is a kitchen drawer filled to the brim with cookie cutters. Yes. To the brim. There are over a hundred. Maybe close to one fifty. I don't know, I'm not going to sit and count.

The drawers above it and the cabinets over that section of counter are all dedicated to baking.

I love my kitchen.

Friday Photo

Been awhile since I did one of these, huh? Moving and dreading the process of uploading pics will do that to a person. Or a blog.

Anywho, I have a picture of my house!

I love it. This was taken last week and the amount of green on those front trees has exploded! You also can't see my tulips. Oh wait, that's because that was the very day that some TURDS picked my two that were blooming.

Love the black trim on my house. Love my front porch (where I sit and watch the turds who walk by now). Love my three-car garage (although hubby loves it more). Love my kitchen. Just love the house!

Are you feelin' the love? Happy Friday everyone!

Wednesday Wish List

Wow, it's been awhile since I made a wish list, hasn't it? Well, here comes the home stuff. I told you it was coming. Today, seating.

I am in lust with this purple leather chair. Isn't it FABULOUS? Hubby told me I could have some purple in our room so this baby belongs in there. Of course there is the problem of that ridiculous price... (via Crate and Barrel)

This is pretty stinking cute too. This would be for my living room. If I could get hubby on board with an armless chair. He prefers chairs you can kind of fall into. Target actually has a LOT of cute accent chairs right now. (via Target)

This is precious!!! It's a phone desk!!!! Because, you know, phones used to have these things called cords. And those cords didn't allow you to walk around the house like we do now. Wooooow. (haha, you love my sarcasm) I would totally repaint this. And maybe put it in my sewing room. (via paintedturtlestudio on Etsy)
This is pretty much what I want for my couch. Gray. Love the chaise. Hate the price. If anyone is getting rid of a gray couch, or knows someone who will recover for cheap, call me! (via Crate and Barrel)

Wingback chairs make my heart flutter. And while I don't plan on navy in my living room, I still wouldn't say no to this one. (via Pottery Barn)

Another armless one. Just in case hubby doesn't like the prints I have picked out. But not this light. I'd go a darker aqua. Mmhmm. I gotta plan in mind for my living room... (via lunarloungedesign on Etsy)

There ya go! The first of probably many house-related posts to come. I finally uploaded pics so expect to see my super cute house later this week!

Hello There

Guess where I am???

Yup, totally writing from our house!!!

It's not done. We've got a LOT of unpacking to do. And I need to get mom's sewing machine over here so I can start curtains. And we're having people over in just under two weeks! All this is just to let you know that I may not be around much this week. Unless we happen to be amazing and get a whole lot done.

So stick with me. I'll post when I get the chance. Hopefully I'll get a picture up for you by the end of the week. Because I really do love my cute house.

Heads Up

I have two posts scheduled for the week. Not sure if I'll get more than that up. Because it's officially moving week!!!!

So we'll see. If I'm not around I'll update you with everything next week.

Wednesday Wish List

Aahhhh moving. We're attempting to pack over here and it's hateful. So to keep myself happy I've been playing with ideas for the rooms in the house. Have I mentioned I get a SEWING ROOM?! It's going to be the girliest room in the house. Seeing as how hubby won't be hanging out in there, I think I can get away with it.

My mom bought be some adorable pink damask yesterday to cover my chair with, and now I'm drooling over stuff on Etsy, so let me share.

I love this aqua with my pink damask. And I love this print. Not sure what I would do with it, but I love it. (via daffodilhill)

This pink metal crate is so cute! Yes, the paint is wearing away in spots, but that makes me love it more. I can totally throw fabric or magazines in here. (via SacValleyTreasures)

This clock makes me happy. I'm a little hesitant about throwing yellow in with the aqua and pink. Hubby may or may not have thrown the words "Easter egg" around last night. But I'll throw some gray in, that will make it better, right? Anyway, this clock is fabulous. (via tracygarciadesigns)

This is a print for the wall. I kind of have a thing for birds right now. (via LuckyBluebirdArt)

See? More birds. This one kind of combines my colors so I think I need it. (also via LuckyBluebirdArt)

This is cute. And would look nice on the wall also. (via hijirik)

Love the song, love this print. It would also look cute with the one above. (via Tessyla)

There's actually a ton of stuff on the site that I loved, this is just a small amount. And mom and I went to Home Goods yesterday and I found a birdcage/candle holder that I have my heart set on now. If any of you so choose, you could email/Twitter/Facebook hubby and tell him I need it. :)

5 Things...

The big topic of conversation is the move right now. We're excited. Tad is VERY excited. So it was kind of obvious what I would write about today.

5 Projects We're Looking Forward To At the New House
  1. Staining our dining room table and chairs. I'm also going to recover the seats on them. Hubby's actually pretty excited about it too.
  2. Refinishing our storage/buffet/cabinet. It needed it when we got it a couple years ago. But it wasn't bad so it wasn't a priority. I really kind of want to do it a funky color...
  3. Making a headboard. We don't have one. I have tons of options running through my head at the moment and have to pick one already.
  4. Making curtains. For pretty much every room. I'm excited about this more than hubby. I'm having fun browsing fabrics online and trying to pick colors for each room.
  5. This one's only a possibility, but I'm kind of hoping to build a loft bed for Tad. I want one because it will open up some floor space and I want him to have plenty of room to play. The only tough part would be that anyone who stays the night (I'm lookin' at you MP) would be sleeping in it instead of a normal "grown up" bed. So it's not for sure yet. That and I haven't actually built anything like that before. Hmmm...
There will be lots of little projects too. I'm recovering a desk chair for my sewing room. And I'm going to paint or refinish the table that my sewing machine is on. Not to mention getting some shelves up.

I swear I won't turn this into an interior design blog. I'm not an expert at all, just really super stoked.
