5 Things

I really do mean to blog more often. Honest. It just doesn't happen. You know me... I get busy doing nothing. Hench the lack of pictures on my picture a day page... yeah I don't see that succeeding, perhaps I should take it down.

ANYWAY... I'm having a fabulous week off and spending time at Disneyland with the husband. We'll be home Thursday. When I will relax further until returning to school next week. I love mini-vacations.

But since I had a bit of free time, I thought I would get a couple posts ready. Like today's...

5 Things I Am Excited and Nervous About

1. In just over four weeks I'm making wedding cupcakes. WEDDING. No pressure at all there...
2. In two weeks our second trimester of school ends... meaning conferences. The conferences don't really scare me. I just hate doing all the grades. 
3. Did I mention I'm going to take part in a flash mob??? Yes. I'm going to be part of a flash mob. I've yet to attend the dance class...
4. I'm kind of unofficially on a planning team for a pub crawl here in town. It's Star Wars themed. I told the guy in charge I could make him a Jedi robe. And I can... when I dig out my sewing machine. My sewing room is kind of always a disaster area.
5. Those wedding cupcakes... seriously. I know I can do it, but whoa.

But I'm going to do away with nervousness today and just enjoy Disney. We bought annual passes this year. There will be a lot of trips.

I'm full of crazy random shtuff this week. So there ya go. Don't expect many coherent thoughts from me.

5 Things I'm Loving

1. Date night with husband. Tuesdays. Eureka Burger. Steal the glass. Not actually stealing it, you get to keep it when you order the beer of the night.
2. Random dates with husband. Like the movies last night.
3. Movies. Specifically "The Grey" last night. WHOA. Intense, brutal, and depressing. But amazing. It's apparently based off a short story so I shall be finding it.
4. Winter camp! I leave right after school on Friday.
5. Having the income to do stuff. Like buy our new television. :) It's pretty exciting.

Sooo... hoping for great things this week? There's some possibilities floating around, but nothing definite. 

5 Things

It's almost February. I have things to be excited about...

1. Valentine's Day! Not like we celebrate it big or anything (we'll probably stay home and watch Glee), but I love it. All the pink and red, the candy, the class party...
2. I have a random week off! Instead of two Mondays this month, our school takes an entire week. Hubby and I are looking at Disneyland.
3. The Walking Dead is back!!! We're debating whether we will continue joining the bar group or if we'll have our own viewing parties at our house. That depends on whether or not we get a new TV in time.
4. Tax return! That we won't do anything with because we want to save for a house!
5. We'll be that much closer to spring. And flip flops. Oh how I miss flip flops.

Then as soon as spring gets here I'll piss and moan about summer. Can't win with me. Happy Tuesday!

5 Things About... Whatever

1. I can't wait to decorate for Valentine's Day. Yes, I decorate for Valentine's Day. I might do it this weekend.
2. I'm making a huge leap... wedding cupcakes and small cake in March. YES. Not technically my first wedding, but this one will be big.
3. Hubby and I are (likely) starting Weight Watchers soon. It worked for a couple of my in-laws so I feel good knowing people who liked it.
4. My coffee and creamer I need every morning are zero points on Weight Watchers. :)
5. I want to have a dance party. With music from back in the day. And fun lighting. And craziness.

I could keep going, but it IS called five things. Looking at a week that's filling up with stuff to do. Church tomorrow, and the chance to be involved in the planning stages of a pub crawl on Thursday... I'm excited and I think I'm going to do it. Because it will be OUTSTANDING.

5 Things

We went to Yosemite yesterday. Apparently it's a big deal to others that I can just drive there for a day trip. Apparently I take that for granted. I started thinking about it, and even though this state and its constant nannying frustrate me mostly, there are some good things about it.

5 Things I Like About California

1. I can drive to the beach just for a day. Not a long drive. Actually, we have a TON of beaches to choose from!
2. I can drive to Yosemite or any other part of the Sierra Nevadas. Relatively quickly. I can even do it straight from a beach trip.
3. Disneyland. 'Nuf said.
4. Our baseball teams. Also driving distance for a day trip.
5. The fact that people in other states still feel like we're a "big deal" out here. Before I started this blog I took a trip to Alabama to visit family. While there I was introduced to a younger cousin. When she found out I was from California her eyes got big and she said, "Y'all are from California? What's it like?" It wasn't the question so much as the way she asked it. Like I had been to the moon or something. She's aware she was the highlight of my trip. :)

Sooooo... we're off to do... things not exclusive to California today. Movies maybe, some archery practice for the Tad. Happy Tuesday!

5 Things

I see myself cracking open more than one bottle of wine this month. See, it's almost December which means I have entirely too much to do. I'm looking forward to all of it, but it's also going to make me tiiiiired...

5 Things I'm Excited For

1. All of a sudden there's a lot to do this weekend. Possible football game Friday, several events in Tower on Saturday, and probably a whole lot of sewing on Sunday. 
2. Finishing the Christmas decorations. The goal is for me to do everything I possibly can (which is everything that does not involve climbing on rooftops) this weekend. I won't get all my sewing done (well, it's doubtful anyway), but if I can get my tree up and all the other stuff that doesn't have to be made... I'll be content.
3. Christmas program at school! I was the "acting coach" last year (just call me the director). I'm doing the same thing this year. Rehearsals start today. We have five after-school rehearsals and at least two during the school day. All before the fifteenth. Because that's when we have to be perfect. I'm going to tell the kids that a great performance can be considered my birthday present. :)
4. Oh yeah... my birthday! Obviously there won't be much celebrating on the actual night. But we're having a party over here. Which means lots of prep. And I have a feeling I'll be doing a lot more of it than I was hoping to.
5. Christmas. I love it. But man it's a lot of work. I feel like I should have three celebrations just to get back all the time I put in. I'm done with one gift. One. That's pathetic.

There's so much more going on besides that. Church stuff, another tattoo, a trip to Vegas... I'll sleep someday...

Yesterday WIPED me out. Don't you hate it when Monday does that? So you don't get much creativity today. Tomorrow either. Because we're going to our last baseball game of the season tonight.

1. I already miss baseball. Two games left for the Giants. And I care about absolutely no one in playoffs. *sigh*
2. This week is the book fair at school. I already bought two books. There's a good chance I will purchase more.
3. I'm itching to work on home projects. I painted a little last night. I want to do more though.
4. I miss my Tad. This is what happens when I get him for a weekend. I'm spoiled.
5. Our neighbors have started putting out Halloween decorations. It's time...

So sometimes when I complain, I feel like a jerk. Cuz really, we have it made compared to people in other countries. A couple times last week my buddy and I were laughing at our "first world problems." So today I give you...

5 First World Problems (That ALWAYS Happen To Me)

1. When your internet is... *gasp*... slow and a page takes more than ten seconds to load.
2. Toasting a bagel only to find you don't have cream cheese (this was me last week).
3. Pouring coffee and discovering you don't have creamer (this was the same morning).
4. When your DVR cuts off a really important show, or even scenes from the next episode. 
5. When you pour a bowl of cereal and find there's no milk. 

My friend likes to post these types of complaints on Twitter with the hashtag #firstworldproblems. I enjoy it.

Ahhhh... Monday is over. And I have much to be happy about today...

5 Things I'm Happy About Today

1. Yet another day that ISN'T triple digits. Hello fall, I can see you hiding around the corner.
2. Sleeping in! I have a BTSA meeting in Sac tonight so I have a sub for the day. Yay-yuh!
3. Spending the day with the husband. He's coming with me. We may hit up IKEA.
4. Both my baseball team AND hubby's won last night. And there was much rejoicing.
5. I'm keeping up with my grading so far! Well... better than I was doing last year anyway.

I'm also thrilled it's not Monday. Yesterday my poor kiddos seemed sleepy. And sniffly. And nobody was driving right. So I'm glad that's over with...

So... the tattoo Sunday night was my first tattoo. I was pretty nervous. But it truly wasn't awful. I'm still willing to do it again after all. :) So in honor of that, I give you today's list...

5 Things I Was Thinking While Being Tattooed

1. Ow. Okay not too bad... ow... okay not bad again... owwwww.
2. Maybe I shouldn't have picked my hip. It's getting sensitiveee... owwwww.
3. Poor Kayla. I hope I'm not hurting her hand when I squeeze it.
4. Hopefully my shoulder won't hurt this bad.
5. Do I want to see? Or do I not want to see? I think I'm glad I can't see. But I wish I could see where she's at because owwwwww.

 I do think the particular spot was sensitive. The next one (or at least maybe the next one) is near my shoulder blade. I've got plans for others later. I guess I learn to suck it up for the pain.

Things around here have been signaling fall... I thought I'd share.

5 Things That Hint Fall is Coming For Me

1. Halloween stuff. I am completely okay with this. I almost bought some dog t-shirts at Target last night.
2. Semi-cool mornings. Those actually went away for awhile, but they're coming back. By Friday I may need a cardigan to do yard duty.
3. The limited availability of short sleeves. I went looking for a light weight cardigan the other day so I could wear a cute new dress... nope. All too warm or long sleeves. *sigh*
4. Boots! It will soon be time to add some to the collection. This makes me happy.
5. The looming end of the season for baseball. I don't even want to talk about how few games are left. Sads.

What's making you realize, "Holy crap it's fall?!"

I was going to do an overshare and tell you about five things that are getting me through PMS this week. But then I got too lazy to take pics. So that idea went out the window.

5 Things I Already Miss About Summer

1. Sleeping in! Obviously. Honestly it hasn't been bad though.
2. My purple hair. I still like my black hair, but that purple... *sigh*
3. Going out during the week. I wanted to go out last night. I decided to be a grown up and stay home.
4. Just the idea of freedom to do whatever you want at any point of the day.
5. Shorts and flip flops and no makeup days. Now I have to be presentable. Every day. 

I am extremely grateful I have a job that gives me a summer vacation. I just wish it hadn't flown by. :) And I am excited to be back at work with my kiddos. I have some funny personalities in class this year. It should be interesting... like my second grader who burped yesterday and then said to his friend, "That tasted like my lunch."

Yup. These are the gems I get daily.

5 Things On My Mind

1. School, DUH! I have possibly seventeen kids now and a new aide coming my way. And uh... I didn't practice waking up early. Oops...
2. Wicked... or specifically, the soundtrack. There's one song from it that I CANNOT get out of my head. It's been popping in randomly and making me sing for three days now.
3. Running. Confession: I kinda got out of it once it got really hot this summer. I definitely need to start again. Like, yesterday.
4. My hair. I miss the purpleness. I really do. But I'm diggin' the black more than I thought I would. I'm also doing the annual, "Should I cut it" contemplation. I won't. I love my long hair.
5. Sewing. I haven't been sewing anything from scratch, but I have three t-shirts that are getting makeovers. I'm pretty excited about them too. One is just going to fit better, but the other two will be fun!

24 hours until my kids start walking in. And at the time this posts, I'll be on my way out to school already for CPR. Joy.

Yeah... I've been neglecting. It happens. Movie dates, vet appointments, and the like. There's just a lot to do!

So I decided to keep it simple today and go back to my typical Tuesday post.

Let's look at 5 Things Happening This Week

1. Let's just get to what I'm most excited about... BASEBALL THURSDAY!!!! It's gonna be pretty awesome. Why wouldn't it be, it's BASEBALL! 
2. Hubby and I are going to go buy some bikes today. Not just any bikes... cruisers! I've been dying for a cruiser for a decent amount of time. I found one. For a good price. And it's yellow. Yellow!!! I can't wait. Hubby just wanted any bike because it's pretty much the only workout he's allowed to do with his back problems.
3. Crafting. I'm on a jewelry kick again. I'm actually gonna head to some craft stores today to pick up some stuff. I'm finding some cute ideas online.
4. Tad time!!! He's going to the game with us Thursday and I'm going to see how long I can get away with keeping him. :)
5. Baking. For Sunday. Don't know what I'm going to make yet. Cupcakes for sure, but what kind...

And now I'm going to get ready to go. Because jewelry supplies and a shiny yellow bike are calling to me...

It's officially spring now. There's lots to be happy about.

1. BASEBALL. 
2. Seriously, baseball. Hubby's team (go Giants) are the champs so it'll be a fun season to watch. My team (go A's!) hasn't done much for me in the past years, but I'll always be faithful to my boys in green.
3. Spring break. Thirteen and a half school days.
4. Rodeoooo. Hubby and I haven't been in a few years, we're determined to change that this year. 
5. Weather nice enough for shootin'. Rain and snow puts a damper on shooting for us. Seeing as how we use an old abandoned range in the mountains.

 Did I mention baseball is about to start? Hubby and I watched some preseason last night. Thank GOODNESS Comcast knows what's up. Because our teams are playing each other in a little series at the moment. :)

What's UP my friends? It's Tuesday. Tuesdays are okay in my book. Monday is out of the way, Glee is on... and that's about all to look forward to on your average Tuesday. But today isn't average. I'm likin' some things that are happening this week. So let's share.


5 Things I'm Liking This Week

1. My tulips are starting to bud! I love my tulips. Of course this means that we have to start watching the punk kids who walk by on their way home from school. I had a couple of them picking my tulips last year. Jerks.
2. I have new clothes to wear! Thanks to a fun shopping trip with my bestie on Saturday, I have a couple new work-appropriate dresses to wear.
3. I have to prep my class for two performances this week! Okay, that's not really the fun part. The nice part is that after this, the hardest thing to plan for will be open house. *whew* It's hard coaching kids through a performance when I was the QUEEN of avoiding public speaking my whole life.
4. Chance of rain? Yes please.
5. I'm writing sub plans! Well, the sub plans themselves aren't so fun. But writing sub plans DOES mean that I will be having time off. As in two days for hubby's birthday next week! I don't know what the plan is yet, but we'll almost surely go somewhere where we can bum around and do something fun.

1. Last weekend's diet sucked. But I lost five pounds. I'll likely be doing it again this weekend.
2. Girl Scout cookies have arrived... looks like I'll definitely be doing that diet again.
3. I bought new shoes last week. They make me ridiculously happy.
4. I bought new sunglasses yesterday. Five bucks to look fab... yes please!
5. I have this annoying cough that keeps acting like it wants to take my voice away. As a teacher this is obviously no bueno.

So. It's Tuesday. No Idol means no bloggage. But there is Glee! And cookies! So don't worry about me, I'll be thoroughly entertained here at home.

5 Way Random Things

1. I have been saying "totes" instead of "totally" a LOT. Like, A LOT. Blame Adventure Time. Ohhh glorious Adventure Time.
2. Dinner last night was super awesome. Just sayin'. And in case you're curious, this recipe here is what we made.
3. We finally got our car. Did I ever mention that? We love it. Tad loves it. Like, LOVES it. That makes hubby love it a bit more I think.
4. We sold our Blazer. For more than we had hoped. Yay-eah! 
5. I say "Yay-eah" a lot too. Blame Regular Show. Which is mucho awesome.

It's Tuesday... hollllaaaaaa.

Don't ask me where that came from, because I really couldn't tell you. I can tell you that Blogger's little "improvements" or whatever they're wanting to call them are really annoying me. I feel like it's slowing me down or something. Anywho, that's not what we're here for today.

Over break I didn't get much accomplished. Shooting trip got rained out, car got delayed (and at this point I don't want it if it has to come from the riDONKulous dealer that we've dealt with), PLUS Arthur decided to be sick and try to die (hello shop, goodbye money). But let's look at some things that DID happen...

5 Things I Accomplished Over Break

1. My gallery wall!!! Pics to come later this week... maybe.
2. A wreath for the front door. Also possible pics to come later.
3. Set a date for hubby's birthday party.
4. A decent amount of reading for the fun of it.
5. Bought the last thing needed to recover my dining room chairs!

I'm kind of loving my house. And I'm well on my way to getting a couple rooms finished in it. Well, mostly finished. I dunno, does staining furniture need to be complete too? I suppose...

I'm going to go dream about what happens next for my house. Happy Tuesday!

Gotta love how unpredictable things can be.

Our shooting trip? Ummm... might be delayed for another day seeing as how we were going to head up into the mountains and we're looking at a chance of snow tomorrow. Hmmm...

But today we may just be heading out of town to go get our new (to us) car! I'm crossing my fingers and my toes that this all comes together. We're approved for our loan and got the dealer to agree to a price over the phone. Now we have to wait on the bank this morning. And brother in law to get out of class (he's coming down with us). So hopefully I'll be able to show you the new baby tomorrow?

But it's Tuesday, and that's supposed to be my 5 Things day. And I don't want to disappoint. So in the theme of unpredictable things...

5 Unexpected Things That Are Actually Welcome

1. Finding money in a jacket or a pair of jeans.
2. Flowers. Who could turn down flowers?
3. Running into an ex/former mean girl/anyone who tortured you in some way when you look smokin' hot.
4. When you buy something and it's actually on sale and you weren't aware of it.
5. Messing up a recipe but it still turns out as something that's not just edible, but good!

Not that I pulled a number five this weekend. I totes didn't forget to put baking soda in a cake and accidentally turn it into brownies. That would never happen. ;)
