Wake Me Up

Well if you know me you know I take my baseball very seriously. Ridiculously so. And if you follow the game as well you know that this week was important- trade deadline.
Now I hate this week in baseball. The rumors and speculation and eventual arguments that pop up online make me ill.

But yesterday...

Yesterday was terrible. You have to remember my love for Brian Wilson. I mean I loved what he did as a player but the man topped my list too.

Yesterday he signed with the worst team he could have gone to. The one place that hurt not just me, but most Giants fans deeper than we could have imagined.

He went to the Dodgers.

I read this in the car. I gasped. Covered my face. Dropped my phone. Scared husband. As soon as I had to say the words out loud to him I thought I would be sick. Physically ill.

People will say that's dramatic. Fine. But you obviously don't have my passion if you're going to pass judgment that quickly.

I'm crushed. All my dearest friends got it. We exaggerated our sympathies trying to get laughs. But at this point I'm mostly done. It's stupid but it's like a breakup. I'm finding shirts with his name. I'm finding pictures.

I think it's bonfire time.

And if you judge... well I'm sorry you don't care as deep as my friends and I. But I like to think that's what makes us such great friends. And fans.

Gamers

San Francisco. Giants win.

Only our fourth game this season.  We're a little behind compared to last year. But we have been to more Grizzlies games this year so...

Tomorrow is adventures. So we can avoid the triple digits back home. Ick.

Friday Photo

UGH. Talk about a crazy week. I wanted to throw in the towel a few times. Okay, more than a few. A lot. Things changed from one minute to the next...

Monday it was flippin' cold. 27 degrees when I got to work. I live in CALIFORNIA. I was not ready for this. Then we figure out that for some (still unknown) reason, our bells aren't working at school. Not a HUGE deal, but an inconvenience for sure.

Tuesday was another cold one - 26. Awesome. Still no bells. Feeling massively overwhelmed in general and want to hibernate until Christmas. So to relax we hit up our favorite bar for some pizza and beer. And while there I made the horrific discovery that the Giants traded away mi novio, Andres Torres (yes, that's how we refer to him around here). There was wailing on the part of myself and our bartender (who I love which is why I visit her so often). And general anger when we got home. Still feeling bitter.

Wednesday wasn't awful to start. STILL no bells, still no clue why, but we've gotten used to it now. Struggling to keep a few students focused because I think their poor brains are on break a week early. They've checked out. On the plus side, practices for our Christmas program are going REALLY WELL. I'm feeling kind of like director of the year. AND AND AND AND... I totes got mistaken for a high school student at church. Normally I'd be offended or something, but the week before I'm going to turn 30??? I'LL TAKE IT!

Thursday was 25 DEGREES when I got to work. Ew. And ew some more. Plus no interwebz at work this morning. Not a huge deal, but I have parents that email me. Then at lunch we got our network back! Yay! And within minutes I had read that the Giants didn't resign Cody Ross. Super sads. Like, ridonk sads.

I'm honestly not sure I want to know what's in store for me today. Plus side: hubs is off work earlier than normal so we'll actually get to spend time together - beyond abnormal for a Friday.

And since it's a Friday photo, and since I'm missing my Cody already...

Oh Cody, you will ALWAYS rock my black and orange socks.

*sigh*

My Giants are changing too much. At dinner with hubby and brother in law last night I was reading the ticker on ESPN and screeched a little while grabbing hubby's arm. He stared, brother stared, bartender-friend stared. Then I found words and said,

"Search Andres Torres right NOW. I think they gave him to the Mets."

Gasping and loud protests came from bartender-friend and I. Then hubby confirmed it and we were all a little depressed. Add to that the fact that Sabean has already said he's "pessimistic" about resigning Cody Ross...

It's not a good day for me. So let's post a video and enjoy these two adorable men when they still wore our colors.

Friday Photo

Whadduuuup... do you love Fridays? I do. Even if this particular Friday means I have to camp out with a bunch of 5th and 6th grade kids.

In honor of baseball being over for us (*sigh*), I give you a baseball photo today. It'll be awhile before you get another fresh one. Almost exactly six months actually.

At least they won the night we went. And the weather was gorgeous. I didn't want to come home.

I do have other pics floating around that weren't posted. So it's not the end of my baseball pictures...

Friday Photo

Due to recent wins by my G-Men, you are getting a baseball picture yet again.

Last game we went to. For my non-fan readers, Cody wears (or was wearing for awhile) the striped socks. And he typically wears eye black. I got high-fives and pictures for my outfit that night. :) Cody saw my sign too.

Ahhhh Friday. And a cooler weekend. And a wedding to go to! Aside from that I see a little bit of house improvement (in the form of painting and hanging some spice racks) and a whole lot of vegging.

Happy Friday!

Wednesday Wish

It's not a wish list, just one thing. I'm not asking for much today.

We need some Giants wins. Pretty please????

And if you don't understand the panda hat... it's a nickname for a player. I put on the hat Monday night and he hit a home run. I'm trying to stretch the magic out of it...

I Made That

Honestly, wish lists are such a pain. I really have to be feeling them. They may become a once-a-month thing.

For today, I wanted to show off some cuteness I made.

Now you can't tell from the picture, but it's actually a headband. Seen in action here...

Because sewing up my shirt, planning lessons, and planning my outfit wasn't enough for one night... the night before the game last week I decided I needed a hair accessory. So I stitched this baby up. I bought the patch on eBay. Actually, I ordered five. I've used two so far. Stitched the patch onto white felt by hand. Sewed the white to the black with my machine. Hot glued it to the headband. Glittered the white edge. Voila... cuteness. I got a lot of compliments. For how easy it is, I may try to make some to sell. We'll have to see...

There is only one word for today's photo so I'm not going to blab on and on:

AMAZETABULOUS.

Thought About It

I thought about doing a wish list for y'all today. I really did. I went so far as to favorite some things on Etsy. I even had a theme picked out.

But there's just too much to do my friends.

See, it's my cousin's birthday today. So I'm part of a group heading out to see my favorite boys in orange this afternoon. So last night was a rush of planning for the next couple days (since I won't be productive tonight IN THE LEAST). Plus outfit planning so I can change as I walk in the door and promptly get back out. Plus a poster was in the works...

I love baseball. Why must it end?

Probably no post tomorrow morning. I gotta Rockstar it up just to get out of bed. :)

Oh Giants

So we had a GOOD baseball fight the other night.

If you follow baseball, you know that there's just no love to be found between the Giants and the Phillies. So this turned into one of the best bench-clearing brawls in recent memory. Well... at least in the past year. Because this kinda happened last year too.

What's sad (and a little funny) is this was the best part of the game that night. My cousin and I were recapping our favorite parts on Facebook (if you're good at recognizing players, just look for Sergio Romo in the video... GANGSTA!). Twitter blew up. I commented that Eli Whiteside (the catcher for the Giants) was protecting his pitcher AS HE IS SUPPOSED TO DO and got attacked. Of course the genius who attacked me was courteous enough to give my blog a few hits. Thanks for raising my stats jerk! :)

Thankfully there were no suspensions. And the Giants won yesterday. So all is right with the universe again. Feel free to watch the video more than once. Between the actual game, post game, and the coverage in days following, I've probably seen it more than ten times. :)

Weekly Manicure

Sooo... really this week should have been shark-themed nails. Because it's Shark Week on Discovery. But see, I kind of owe a manicure dedicated to a certain Giants player. Yes, OWE him.

See I "like" Cody Ross (yes, outfielder for the Giants and star of a certain post last week AND the adorable man in this video I featured more than once) on Facebook. And he responds to people all the time on his page. So in the course of commenting on his page last night, he asked to see my Giants-themed manicure from a couple weeks ago. And just so you know, YES I squealed like an idiot and treated it like a much bigger deal than it actually is. But c'mon... Cody Ross wanted to see my manicure! So I put a pic up on his wall.

Um, if you remember my manicure was pretty much solely revolving around our favorite bearded closer, B.Weezy. Cody called me out on that. And now I'm attempting to redeem myself with this...

Yup, spelled his name. 13 is his number (obviously). The black with orange stripes is because he's pretty much known for wearing the short baseball pants with striped socks like that. :) I love his socks. I'm actually planning on getting some before our next game.

So there ya are. This won't last a week. We have pics coming on Saturday so I think I'll go for something less bright. Or maybe I'll do purple to match my hair...

**EDIT** Cody responded with a "like" and a "Now keep it like that. ;-)"

I GOT A WINKY FACE FROM CODY ROSS! haha I promise I'm not that crazy, it just makes me giggle. And okay, I did squeal. Hubby rolled his eyes at me.

Girl Moment

So really, y'all know I love baseball. I like the sport. Not just the men playing it. But there's definitely an advantage to sitting in the bleachers in San Francisco...

Hellooooo Cody Ross.

You're welcome.

Winning

I'm a huge DIY person. Going to a concert? Make a shirt. See something I like online but don't like the price? Figure out how to make my own version. I made the best shirt ever yesterday.

Yup. Winning. For those that don't know, Romo is a reliever for the Giants. And he's GOOD. Like, super good. I got a lot of second glances and some good laughs out of my shirt. Even had a woman ask for a pic of me and hubby (ya know, with his Wilson-esque beard). I love San Francisco on game day. Besides that... well I could skip it. :)

OH I have to tell you the highlight of Cole's day. Adorable. We were leaving our parking garage and this Camaro comes around the corner BUMPING music and hubby turns to me and says, "That's Pablo Sandoval!" Cole's head flew around so fast I though it would pop right off. Traffic was stopped so he was still close to our car and I told Cole to roll down the window and yell his name. He did and Sandoval totally grinned in his sideview mirror. And we DIED over his license plate (I'll withhold to avoid contributing to stalkers). The rest of the day Cole would randomly say to himself, "I can't believe we saw Pablo Sandoval outside the stadium!" Super cuteness.

Now we get one day of a little relaxation (besides taking in some recycle and having dinner with some family) before work and play start up again. And yes, I WILL actually work tomorrow. I'm headed out to my classroom to do some organizing and cleaning.

Weekly Manicure

Again, a little early this week, but it's for a good reason.

Baseball game tomorrow!!! Giants are playing the Dodgers (if you're not in the know, they're huge rivals so this is a BFD). We're also going Saturday. Because hubby had already taken the day off. Yay for baseball!

I got festive with my nails last night. And yes, this was all done by me with a tiny paintbrush. I should have taken a pic of my right hand because it looks JUST as good (a big deal seeing as how I'm right-handed). So from the pinky working inward...
  • W (for Wilson... or win, your choice)
  • a beard!!!
  • the SF logo
  • 38 (Wilson's number)
Not shown is my thumb, which has a cute orange heart on it. :)

Now I need to get to work on some shirt-makin'. I have some cleverness in my head...

Why Am I Not Rich?

Pretty sure EVERYONE needs a proofreader. Found further proof on tonight's Target purchase...

Do you SEE the problem? I think they meant to say "MLB OfficiallY licensed." Someone messed up. And if they had hired me, it wouldn't have happened. :)

And please don't speculate about the purchase of baby booties. They were clearance and will still be relevant when I do have children. Far FAR down the road. They were too adorable to pass up.

An Open Letter to Old Spice

Dear Old Spice,

It's no secret that I LOVE you. Rather, I love your commercials. That Isaiah Mustafa... yes. And yes. But I think there's room for another man. A man that men want to be like.

Brian Wilson.

NOT the musician. The amazing bearded baseball player. That man is unstoppable.
  1. He's my boyfriend. Hubby is okay with this because they look so similar. Okay... and the fact that we have not actually met. Hmmm... problem.
  2. That beard? Well that will sell the product itself.
  3. He's hilarious. For reals. Look up any interview with him. People love him so much there's a Facebook page campaigning for him to host SNL.
  4. He's loved. The ladies LOVE B.Weezy. Just read this blogger's reasons they are destiny. I laughed. And wished I had a blog when I was single so I could write crazy things. Back then it would have been reasons I was going to marry Barry Zito (I apparently have had a thing for pitchers for years).
So really Old Spice, let's make this happen. I promise I will only buy your product for my husband if you make this happen. And when I have sons one day, they will only use Old Spice.

But only if you get me Brian Wilson.

    Sparkly Hearts Everywhere

    All Star Game tonight!!!

I know I've been a bit baseball obsessive lately, but it's summer. And I was raised on baseball. Pretty sure I bleed green for my boys in Oakland. Hubby actually commented a couple weeks ago that I'm rather dude-like in my tendency to wake up and turn on MLB network in the morning.

Yes, it's been happening. I love that channel.

So I saw this commercial a couple weeks ago for the first time and I enjoy it. Especially Eckersley and his epic stache.

    Love.

    Weekly Manicure

My nails are appropriate for what's coming the next couple days...

If you live under a rock and don't know what this week is... All Star Game. Hence the nails. :) I love them. They're fun. And they'll be gone Thursday in honor of something else special...

    Weekly Manicure

Meant to post yesterday because OF COURSE they're themed for yesterday's holiday...

The blue is glittery too... just doesn't photograph well on the webcam.

You can also see my pimpin' ring. I love it.

We're off to a baseball game tonight. Our AAA team is a feeder for the Giants. And they may not always be great, but they have 2-for-1 tickets tonight AND fireworks. I can support that.
